01 October, 2018 No commentWe are committed to making technology serve people and businesses by safely and non-chemically disinfecting water to the highest quality standards as listed by the EPA, NSF, and WQA. Water safety should be addressed without compromise and without chemicals.
Water is the most valuable commodity for human existence. With limited resources, aging infrastructure and a growing awareness of the harmful effects from chlorine and other chemicals, chemical-free water disinfection is the next step in safely treating our water.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), nonpoint source water pollution (NPS) and polluted urban runoff are the current leading causes of water quality problems, with NPS pollutants causing harmful effects on drinking water supplies, recreation, fisheries and wildlife.
It’s time to take ownership of our water quality. Millions of Americans need to know:
Is tap water safe?: Cases of infections from waterborne pathogens are on the rise. For example, cases of Legionnaires disease caused by the Legionella bacteria in water increased from 0.5 cases per 100,000 in 2000 to 2.5 per 100,000 in 2017 in the United States. Similarly, cases of Salmonella and E. coli infections are increasing.
What else are we ingesting when we drink tap water?: Chlorination remains one of the primary methods of water purification for American’s tap water. Chlorine combined with the organic material present in water can create harmful by-products, like Chloroform and/or Bromoform.
Is the water we use to clean ourselves and our environment damaging our health?: Freshwater pollutants grow daily with pollutants in rivers, lakes and other coastal waters. Waterborne pathogens cause disease in humans via drinking and recreational water. In the United States, pathogens including Norovirus and Legionnaires disease result in nausea, vomiting and diarrhea – or worse.
At Canopus, water safety for residential and business uses is our highest priority, and we believe no chemicals are needed to improve water quality. Chlorination remains one of the primary methods of water purification. Chlorine combined with the organic material present in water can create harmful by-products, like Chloroform and/or Bromoform. We provide safe water without the use of more chemicals.
We know that clean water is essential to our health and wellbeing. According to a 2020 report by the United Nations, much of the globe is experiencing “water stress.” More than half of the world’s population doesn’t have safely-managed sanitation and 2.2 billion people have no access to safe drinking water.
Pipes and water delivery systems in cities and towns across America are old, and we can no longer trust that the water that travels through them will be safe for us, our families and co-workers.
Our primary goals are to ensure that water is safe at the point of entry and the point of use. When water reaches your fingertips, that water should be safe to drink, cook with, bathe in and clean with.
Canopus Water Technologies Inc. develops and manufactures non-chemical water disinfection devices for residential, industrial and commercial applications. Canopus’ technology brings a new approach to a market in dire need of innovation.
We developed the safest, most-reliable ultraviolet light-emitting diode (UV-C LED) water disinfection product on the planet, and it’s now available for home and business use.
Our C-UV100 appliance is simple to install in your home or business. It easily installs under your sink or at the point of entry. Our UV-C LED system purifies water before it leaves the tap, safely and non-chemically disinfecting water to the highest quality standards as listed by the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Science Foundation and the Water Quality Association.
